K1 Security

path to the better & Secure future

The team behind the Keyvault System creates exceptional user experience leveraging in-house state-of-the art technologies in combination with best and proven practices. We challenge car ownership as it is today. From smooth keyless access to advance security, our first product brings the future closer, and paves a pay to the better car ownership experience.

Up to

one billion cars supported

Keyvault K1 System supports a wide range of cars. Virtually every car produced after 2008 that uses CAN bus protocols is compatible with Keyvault K1.

trends in Digital Car Keys technology

Car thefts are at an all-time high, with thieves now adept at intercepting and duplicating key-fob codes from a distance. Simple devices, easily found online, enable criminals to amplify your car's signal, effectively granting them access to your vehicle without the physical key. This method, known as a relay attack, involves a thief near your home capturing the signal from your key fob and transmitting it to an accomplice near your car, tricking it into starting the ignition.

These hacking devices are shockingly affordable, costing just a few hundred dollars. The consequences are significant: vehicle theft in the U.S. remains at near-record levels. In the first half of 2023 alone, nearly half a million cars were stolen, marking a 2% increase from the previous year.

Cyberattacks on connected vehicles have surged by 99% since 2018, with a staggering 92% of UK car thefts in 2019 executed without the actual keys.

In 2020, researchers exposed several flaws in keyless entry systems, which hackers could exploit with ease. A notable incident in July 2020 involved a Tesla Model 3's NFC tag vulnerability that allowed an unauthorized individual to unlock the car. Since 2010, remote attacks have consistently outnumbered physical attacks, comprising over 79% of all car security breaches in the last decade.

Concerns with modern-day solutions

Experiments with connected car systems started a long time ago, however didn’t have a widespread appeal or market until only recently. However, current solutions often don’t provide much value and possess a new set of security problems. That push people away with fear of loosing control of the vehicle and ever increasing car theft reports.

Absolute majority of cars currently in production don’t take any advantage of the late tech advances. In addition to that, there is no way to adopt such tech to the older models.

To illustrate the critical importance of security features in our products, consider the following insights on the vulnerabilities of standard car keys:

Imagine you're at a parking lot, about to enter a grocery store. You press your key fob to lock the doors, and the flash of your car's headlights confirms it. This could be the moment a thief captures your key fob's radio frequency and clones your code.

In conclusion, while key fobs offer convenience, they also present significant security risks. As technology evolves, so do the tactics of hackers seeking to exploit weaknesses in vehicle security systems. The trend of sophisticated attacks on car access systems is escalating, posing a real threat to vehicle safety.

Harnessing the power of two with K1

K1 harnesses the combined strengths of BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) and UWB (Ultra Wideband) technologies. BLE excels in security measures, while UWB stands out for its high-precision location of the user's smartphone.

We integrate both technologies in Keyvault K1 System. This significantly enhances ownership experience. Smooth keyless entry, and high-level security guaranteed, among overall performance of the system.

Keyvault K1 System use secure data encryption and an additional level of authentication.

Level 1
Vehicle access information is encrypted using the BLE access key. It acts as a form of device authentication and guarantees that only authorized gadgets may connect to a BLE device. The access code is unique for each vehicle.

Level 2
In the city, the control panel picks up the signal from a smartphone or smart watch for up to 5 meters (16 feet) away from the vehicle. This ensures a secure connection between the vehicle and the gadgets.

Level 3
An additional level of security is provided when the access code is found. It is limited by authentication time, and, as a result of authentication, either gives access to the device or automatically blocks an unauthorized user.
